I trained as a State Registered Nurse and after living in London and travelling I settled down in Bristol where I qualified as a midwife and Health Visitor and obtained my degrees in teaching and Health Promotion. After many years working in the NHS and raising a family we moved to Hong Kong with my husband’s job. Following demand from many mothers I set up my own practice having qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In 2017 we returned to London from Spain following the birth of our first grandson. I re-branded as Conchita 4 Breastfeeding and worked privately as a Lactation Consultant, volunteered at various community groups when possible and worked part- time as a member of the Infant Feeding Team at UCLH.
With my husband’s job we have now moved to Hale which is where he grew up so have completed a full circle.
I have 3 grown-up children who are dispersed around the world in the UK, Hong Kong and Argentina. I therefore totally understand what it is like when you don’t have family near you or who are easily accessible.
I speak a fair amount of French and love to have a chance to practice my Franglais whenever possible. I have worked with multicultural families from all over the world and also spent some time working with child carers’ from the Philippines.
I firmly believe in a child-centred family approach and using evidence-based practice. Although I have over 30 years’ experience, I am fully aware that every child and family is different and respect how important it is to take into consideration what works best for you and your family.
In my free time, I love discovering new places, meeting new people and am a member of Rock Choir
